Comments of Max Frank Group on the events in Japan

1. We currently supply products to our national and international customers, including projects for the nuclear industry.

2. The events in Japan demonstrate that residual risks in this field are of paramount importance.

3. Furthermore, the unresolved question of interim storage and permanent storage of contaminated nuclear waste fills us with deep sorrow.

4. Responsible energy policy must, of course, also take into account security of supplies as well as cost and efficiency of alternative energy carriers. Innovations and modern technologies can play a crucial role in this process.

5. This is a global issue, in which questions of economic competitiveness are also involved.

6. “As soon as a catastrophe which we had always considered impossible and improbable becomes reality like in Japan, the overall situation will change.” (Dr. Angela Merkel, chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany)
“From now on we must assume that residual risks also become reality. And we must be aware of the consequences of such residual risks before introducing any new technologies.” (Franz Fehrenbach, CEO Bosch)

7. The Max Frank Group has decided to act responsibly by permanently and globally stopping all supplies of FRANK products used for the erection of new nuclear power stations with immediate effect.
